The Legal Aid Awareness Cell

LL.B 3 years final students and BA. LL.B final year students have to organize Legal awareness programme at Block Level. The participation of the legal Panchayat representative of the block is invited. Issues concerning the working of Panchayats are discussed and panchayat members are educated about their duties, and way of functioning.

Training work of Lok Adalats, Legal Aid Camps and Legal Literacy Camps in remote villages form an integral part of practical training of law. At Law College DehraDun, great emphasis is laid on efficient organisation of these sessions.

We have an enthusiastic participation of the students, the legal fraternity and the villagers at our Legal Literacy Camps.

Law College Dehradun recently organised its annual legal awareness camp in June 2009 in village Maldevta, Raipur Block. The Law College Students held presentations on the consumer rights, dowry laws importance of registering birth and death and the function of Lok Adalat. A large number of the residents of the block attended the camp. Mrs. Indira Ashish, the District and the Session Judge of Dehradun was the chief guest at the function. The Panchayat members of the village blocks also shared their views on the legal provisions.
